18th Century Sketches:Amethyst by Velven 18th Century Sketches:Amethyst by Velven
I recently finished a commission of two sketches of ladies wearing 18th century clothing and wigs.

As these are sketches I didn't ink them at all and just used watercolours to add some colour and then a quick overlay in PS, that being said I am pretty happy with how they turned out! :)

This is the companion piece to the Emerald sketch, which I referred to as 'Amethyst' to be inkeeping with teh precious stones theme.

She looks gorgeous!!! I love the whole, pink theme you worked with! All the detail on her hair is so amazing as well as the little hair piece c:
OK I just love her little grin, looks like something is on her mind, but what? 0:

Oh my gosh, I know right! They had such a beautiful way of doing hair back then! Gotta appreciate all the trouble they went to in order for beauty xD
and you're very welcome c:

If I had the money, and obviously didn't have to get up and actually go to work in the morning, I would totally employ someone to style my hair every morning!

This is great. I love the personality that is radiating from the painting. Smug snark much? The color blend is impressive. I thought that it was wholly digital, given how even everything was. The warmth of this is incredibly wonderful. The way this picture tapers down from warm yellow to the deeper rose in her skirt is just lovely. I have to ask, though, is she playing air violin? :) Anyway, this is totally amazing.

Hmm, I think you might be right about the air violin, maybe she is a Mozart groupie! :D

That would be hilarious. 18th century music lovers acting like tweenie groupies of the modern age. Especially as I associate air guitar as a hard rock phenomenon. XD

Haha, It reminds me of the song 'Amadeus' by Falco, that's an 80s pop song based on a similar theme. Classic 80s cheese! :)

You know you're the 6th person since Friday to mention that Song to me. I'm beginning to wonder what kinds of conversations I'm having if even the internet is beginning to comment on my musical tastes. The last 80s Cheese I dealt with was ''Cause We're Blondes' from 'Earth Girls Are Easy.' Ah well, youtube ahoy. :)

Haha, when people meet me they usually think I have an eclectic but 'good' taste in music because i loisten to lots of classical and classic rock stuff, and then I tend to ruin it by listening to 80s cheese, disco or 90s pop. :D

I listen to Benjamin Britten, Tchaikovsky, Chopin, Disney songs, show tunes, Smash Mouth, German pagan folk music, and anything that sounds whiney enough. Can't get enough of suburban boys in their parents' garage trying to rebel. I have no basis for judging music. :)

Haha, that sounds similar to my musical tastes! At the moment I'm listening to a lot of scottish electro-ceilidh, and movie scores are pretty much my staple!
