Plum Gown: Shoes by Velven Plum Gown: Shoes by Velven
The shoes I wore with my costume. I bought these for not very much in a charity shop, they were originally plain cream slub silk (bridal shoes maybe?) with silk roses on the front. I removed the roses, dyed them dark brown and added a strip of silk across the toe i had dyed the same colour. Then I added the buckles and glued red silk bias round them.

Further details of this costume can be found here and there are more views in my gallery and in scraps.

Well they're a size 6, but I'm actually a 5 and a half so they're a tiny bit too big!

You are just too handy.

Like Rodney! :D

They were comfy, I was on my feet pretty much all night, dancing and making sure everyone intermingled etc, and they only have a heel of about 1.5 inches or so. I was just very, very lucky to find some that fit me!

It did indeed twirl, and made a swishy noise when I walked, and puffed about and filled doorways and entire seats. :)

I love dressing up. If i had the time/money i wouldn't ever wear modern clothes, I'd just work my way through history. :D

ha!! that's a wonderful idea... I would like to try those Empire dresses... and those bonnets from "Pride and Prejudice" era, and 20's dresses, and then the huge dresses with little flowers just cascading down...

well. I guess I'll just stick to my blue jeans *for now.*

;P
